Thirty years ago Ruth, my wife, penned a vision for the Inn that we now have owned and operated for 20 years. In fact, we are celebrating our 20th year of ownership this year. We've entered into the final phase of major improvements in 2015 with the replacement of our 50 year-old Guest House roof.
This year we've also expanded the scope of our activity at the Inn. We have implemented a series of "Writers' Retreats and Workshops" under the direction and leadership of an accomplished writer, teacher, and published author, Paula Coomer.
Ruth and I are excited about these new workshops and retreat opportunities. These new offerings represent another exciting step toward fulfilling the Reflections Inn original vision. Ruth and I have always viewed the Inn as more than just a beautiful, restful oasis in a maddening world. It was designed from the ground up as a Retreat, not from the World, but a quiet, restive place in which to gain new insight and self-awareness to better the world!
Ultimately a fractured world cannot solve today's major problems. It will take a combine effort of people from many different backgrounds and cultural experiences to come together, not stand apart, to solve our major problems and make the world a better place. We know this is a lofty goal, but we also know that change happens one person at a time - and that change must come from within each person first.
Making the world, we touch, a better place is a life choice for us. It is a dream, an attempt on our part to reach for another higher purpose no matter how unrealistic it appears. That dream gives meaning to our lives and causes us to reach beyond ourselves.
